Do you know how far you hit your clubs? Do the yardages you use accurately reflect your average distance or your "Sunday Best" yardage?
Many golfers I work with seem to refer to their best ever yardage. Here are some things to think about:
- How far can you hit your clubs when you swing at 80%? It’s better to swing under control and get better contact and a consistent yardage than mis-hit a lot of shots and get some longer shots but a lot of shorter shots caused by off centre hits.
- What club would you use if the shot you are facing was over water.
- Try playing a round of golf where on every iron shot, you take one extra club and swing smoother.
- At the range, hit 10 shots with each club, ignore the longest 3 and shortest 3 and average the middle 4 to get your yardage each club.
- Better yet, spend an hour with a pro and a launch monitor to get really accurate numbers for each of your clubs.
Speaking of launch monitors, I am excited to announce I have a Trackman coming in early September. Trackman is the launch monitor the PGA Tour uses and it is simply the best available. For more infomration about Trackman, visit http://trackman.dk
Have a great month of golf. September is usually one of the best months of the year!!
