The Westin Bear Mountain received two Chef's Choice Awards and the Grand Prize Award at the 3rd annual Chef Challenge in support of Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation. This year’s "Savories Sweets and Sips – A Taste Bud Tango" awarded Westin Bear Mountain’s Thomas Yesdresyski, sous chef, Beth Ross, 1st cook and CJ Mclauchlin third year apprentice in the categories of Chef Choice for Sweet for their Amarula Espresso cheesecake with triple chocolate truffle, and Chefs Choice for Savory for their Malbec brazed short rib in a pinenut orange & arugula seared polenta. Bear Mountain Resort welcomed its largest group of guests to the golf resort yesterday, 300,000 honey bees from Big D Bees in the Comox Valley. Part of a broader commitment to sustainable living in the mountain resort community, the addition of honey bees not only supports the renewal of a species of pollinators critical to food production on the planet, it allows for the harvesting of organic honey that will find its way into the kitchen for the enjoyment of all resort guests. March continues to be a busy month around the resort with many events past and upcoming!

The Phillips Brewers’ Dinner on Tuesday March 8 saw a great turn out and our culinary team blew the minds of those of us fortunate enough to take part! Lead by Executive Sous Chef, Josh Houston, the Panache kitchen did an incredible job of not only pairing the Phillips brews to the food, but actually used the nectar in the creation of all the dishes.  Especially notable was the Chocolate Porter ice-cream! WOW!
