1.1 Members of the North Langford Recreation Centre (Rec Centre) are responsible for the character and conduct of any person or persons whom they invite onto the Rec Centre premises.

1.2 Members and their guests are expected to act in a courteous and orderly fashion at all times.

1.3 Use of profanity is strictly prohibited.

1.4 Harassment, sexual or otherwise, of Rec Centre staff will not be permitted. Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to; unwelcome sexual advances, verbal or physical conduct of a sexual or similarly offensive nature, and offensive comments, jokes, innuendoes, and other sexually oriented statements.

1.5 North Langford Recreation Centre may suspend and deny use of the facilities to any members on the following basis: (I) failure to pay any membership dues or additional charges when due; (ii) breach of any provision of the Membership Agreement or the applicable Rules and Regulations. Denial of use of facilities to any member is at the sole discretion of the management at North Langford Recreation Centre.


2.1 Children in the Rec Centre are governed by the following rules:

(a) Children age eleven (11) years and under must be supervised by an adult (a parent guardian) eighteen (18) years or older, in all areas of the Club, including the pool and hot tub. The only exception is when children are attending a specialty class or special event.  This age group is not allowed on the fitness floor or in regular aerobics classes.

(b)  Children between the ages of twelve (12) and fifteen (15) must be supervised in all areas of the Club, including the pool. Parents must be present in the Club unless their children are attending age specific classes.  Children in this age category must participate in two personal training sessions with a Rec Centre personal trainer to be able to use fitness equipment.  Parent/guardian must remain with their children while they are exercising.  This age category is not permitted in aerobic classes unless a specialty class is being offered.

(c)  Children sixteen (16) years and older may have full Rec Centre access and privileges and do not require supervision by an adult.  Sixteen (16) year old children may take regular aerobic classes

(d)  All children in the Rec Centre are to be dressed appropriately. See “Dress Code”.

(e) Children under the age of five (5) are not allowed in the hot tub for physical safety.

(f) Children over the age of 5 are not allowed in the locker rooms of the opposite sex and must be accompanied by an adult or parent at all times.  Family change rooms are not available.

(g) Children 6 years and younger must be within arm’s reach of parent or guardian 18yrs of age or older

4.1 Regularly scheduled classes are free.

4.2 Specialty classes are fee based.


5.1 Closed toe athletic shoes only.  No boots, sandals, bare feet or slippers.

5.2 Outdoor footwear into the fitness areas is not permitted.

5.3 Shirts must be worn in fitness areas at all times. Shirts must cover mid to lower chest, ribs and midriff.

5.4 Jeans or clothing with metal or plastic which can tear upholstery is not permitted.

5.5 Swim attire must be worn at all times. Both tops and bottoms must be worn at all times. Thong Bikini’s, underwear and cut off jeans are not permitted.


6.1 Employees of the Rec Centre shall not be reprimanded by members or guests. Any employee’s misconduct or a complaint about any employee should be reported to the Rec Centre Director, or General Manager.


7.1 All purchases of food, beverages, and Rec Centre services must be made by cash, credit or debit with the exception of Golf and Social Members who may charge to their numbered account.  Members are not allowed to sign the name or number of other members, nor may guests sign receipts for their hosts.  All charge receipts must be signed when presented.

7.2 Members or guests will be permitted to bring food, in non-breakable containers, to the Rec Centre to be consumed inside the facility only. No outside food will be permitted on the pool deck. No alcoholic beverages, except those purchased from the Rec Centre, shall be consumed on the Rec Centre premises.

7.3 No alcoholic beverage shall be served to any member or guest who, in the sole discretion of the Club employee, appears intoxicated.

7.4 Any member who is habitually intoxicated on Rec Centre premises shall, in the discretion of the Rec Centre, be suspended or expelled for a period such as the Rec Centre may deem proper.

7.5 Under no circumstances shall the Rec Centre serve an alcoholic beverage to a person less than nineteen (19) years of age. No member or guest shall be permitted to purchase, or otherwise furnish, alcohol to a minor for consumption.

7.6 Members, guest and hotel guests are required to present 2 pieces of ID at front desk to receive a 19+ wrist band


8.1 To arrange for a member function, the member or the member’s spouse should contact the Rec Centre’s Special Events Coordinator to make initial reservations and to determine if a suitable room is available at the time and date desired for the function.

8.2 Due to liability issues, children’s parties (age 17 years and younger) are not permitted at the Rec Centre.


9.1 Fitness and Social Membership Dues shall be paid in monthly installments and are payable in advance.  Memberships must be setup by pre-authorized payments, or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).  To change pre-authorized payments, for any reason, 30 days’ notice must be given.

9.2 Accounts that become more than 40 days past due shall be automatically suspended from all privileges of membership until the account is again brought current.

9.3 A contested charge on a member’s account shall not relieve the member of responsibility for timely payment of all other charges for dues, goods, and services.

9.4 All Rec Centre statements, private party bills, or payments of any kind by members, must be made by cash, personal check, credit card or Pre-authorized Payment.

9.5 Membership payments cannot be transferred or deferred.

9.6 Fitness Membership and/or dues are neither transferable nor refundable.  A Fitness Membership can be canceled however; 30 days’ notice must be given in writing.  Cancellation of a Fitness Membership prior to the one year anniversary date will result in a two month penalty of the membership category’s monthly dues.  Cancellation of a two year Fitness Membership prior to the two year anniversary date will result in a three month penalty of the membership category’s monthly dues.

10. PETS

10.1 Dogs or other pets are permitted in the lobby area only.


11.1 Juice bar is open during all hours of operation.  Please notify a front desk attendant of your order and attendant will process your payment and go upstairs to make the order.

11.2 All orders must be paid before item is made by front desk attendant.


12.1 Removing any book, newspaper, periodical, or magazine that belongs to the Rec Centre from the premises is prohibited.

12.2 No advertising or notice shall be posted in the Rec Centre or on the premises except in furtherance of official Rec Centre-sponsored activities.


13.1 Rec Centre property may not be removed from the Rec Centre premises without specific permission obtained in advance from the General Manager. Any Rec Centre property damaged or lost by a member, member of the family, or guest shall be paid for by such member. Furthermore, it is the policy of the Rec Centre that no piece of furniture, fixture, or equipment may be loaned or rented to a member, guest of a member, or any other person.

13.2 The Rec Centre will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for the property of members, guests, or other persons brought on Club premises stored in lockers or for any purpose whatsoever.

13.3 The parking of automobiles for members, guests, or others is done as a courtesy. The Rec Centre assumes no responsibility for such automobiles, damage thereto, or property left therein.


14.1 The Rec Centre will not under any circumstances be responsible for any act, failure to act, or any damages or injuries arising there from, in connection with the maintenance, application or use of any first-aid equipment, medicine or other medical facilities on the premises of the Rec Centre. The Rec Centre may maintain first-aid equipment, medical supplies and facilities as a courtesy for members and guests but will not employ personnel skilled in the use or administration of such supplies, equipment or facilities. The Rec Centre assumes no responsibility for the acts or omissions of any personnel of the Rec Centre, member or guest in the use or administration of such supplies, equipment or facilities.


15.1 Suggestions relating to management, policy, and personnel relationships should not be discussed with                  employees of the Rec Centre. These matters should be referred in writing to either the Rec Centre Manager, or the General Manager.


16.1 The men’s and women’s locker rooms including the spa, lounges and the equipment and aerobics  room may be used by members and their guests sixteen (16) years of age or over.

16.2 Anyone using the Rec Centre must register at the front desk.

16.3 Members failing to register themselves or their guests may be subject to disciplinary action.

16.4 Smoking/vaporizers of any kind are not permitted in the Rec Centre or in the pool area.

16.5 Towels from the Rec Centre, pool or locker rooms shall not be removed from their respective areas, nor shall   towels be kept in lockers.

16.6 Use of cellphones is prohibited in change rooms.

16.7 Avoid the use of scents

16.8 Day use lockers are available. Members and guests of the Rec Centre are required to bring their own locks for use of lockers.

16.9 All items in day use lockers must be removed after use. Staff will remove items as part of the closing duties.


17.1 Individuals taking specialty classes must register prior to participation.

17.2 All aerobics class participants are required to sign in for each class attended.

17.3 All exercise is at one’s own risk.

17.4 During our Aqua Fit programing the pool will remain closed to all members and guests for the one hour session.


18.1 The hot tub thermostat MUST be set by designated Rec Center employees only.

18.2 Glass containers are prohibited.

18.3 The hot tub is not to be used except in conformance with posted rules/notices. Use of these facilities is not recommended for those under the influence of alcohol, on medication, or with high blood pressure or heart conditions.  WARNING: Overexposure to heat can cause drowsiness, dizziness and weakness of legs. Please do not exceed fifteen (15) minutes in the hot tub.


19.1 Shirts, pants, shorts, and appropriate athletic shoes must be worn. Please refer to dress code.

19.2 All free weights and dumbbells should be replaced on the racks after each use.

19.3 Spotters MUST be present when using heavy weights during bench press exercises.

19.4 Free weights must not be dropped on the floor.

19.5 All exercise equipment must be used appropriately and wiped down with provided athletic wipes after use.

19.6 Please be sensitive to others’ exercise needs while in the exercise room.

19.7 Exercise is at one’s own risk.

19.8 Members and guests are required to observe designated time limits on all aerobic equipment.  No more than 30 minutes per session on cardio equipment if a member/guest is waiting.

19.9 No chalk in the fitness room area.


20.1 Glass containers are prohibited in the shower area.


21.1 No one may remove toiletry articles from the fitness center or locker rooms.

21.2 The use of cellphones is prohibited in change rooms.


22.1 Cancellation of personal training appointments must be made twenty-four (24) hours prior to the scheduled appointment or the member will be billed accordingly.

22.2 Due to liability issues, personal training is prohibited by anyone other than North Langford Rec Centre personal trainers.


23.1 Each person who enters the pool area must register at the Rec Centre front desk. A lifeguard will only be present during drop in hours of the facility.

23.2 Children wearing disposable diapers are not permitted in the pool.  Children who still require diapers are permitted in the pool only if they are wearing approved “swimsuit diapers.”

23.3 Children under the age of seven (7) must remain within arm’s reach of a responsible adult eighteen (18) years of age or older at all times.

23.4 Children under the age of eleven (11) must be accompanied and supervised by a person eighteen (18) years of age or older while in the pool area. Children twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of age allowed on the pool deck but a supervisor must be present in the Rec Centre and able to view the children on the deck.

23.5 Health Regulations require that each person shower with soap and water before entering the pool.

23.6 Only acceptable swim apparel may be worn in the pool. Tops and bottoms must be worn at all times,  underwear and cut-off jeans are not acceptable

23.7 Members must properly register guests. All guests are required to pay a facility drop-in fee.

23.8 Boisterous conduct is not permitted in or around the pool. This includes running, pushing, dunking, or other acts that would annoy or endanger others.

23.9 Pool Noodles, swim kick boards and water wings are the only acceptable floatation device allowed in the pool.

23.10 Smoking is not permitted in any area of the Rec Centre, including the pool deck.

23.11 No glass objects are allowed in the pool area.

23.12 Children should not be changed or dressed on the pool decks. Please use appropriate locker rooms.
