Posted on September 30, 2016PGA TOUR Champions event teams up with local charity with a focus on raising awareness and funds for children and families suffering from life-threatening diseases on the Island
VICTORIA, B.C. (August 31, 2016) – Tournament organizers announced today that Victoria based organization Help Fill a Dream will be the official charity partner of the PGA TOUR Champions 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship. With this partnership, the Event will work with Help Fill a Dream to raise funds for children and their families who suffer from serious illnesses.
“We, at Help Fill a Dream, are thrilled to be the charity partner for such an amazing event. It is a unique opportunity for us to highlight the impact of dreams. Our programming is focused on making life better for children with life-threatening conditions and we can only make that happen with the support of the entire community and outstanding partners like the 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship,” said Craig Smith, Executive Director of Help Fill a Dream.
This year marks the 30th anniversary that Help Fill a Dream has been making dreams come true for sick children in Victoria and Vancouver Island. Since 1986, the charitable organization has touched the lives of 2,220 children and their families. Help Fill A Dream improves the quality of life for not only the child, but also for their families by offering services such as financial support, and of course, helping children’s dreams come true. Help Fill a Dream works closely with hospital social workers and other health care professionals to positively impact children and families who are going through a difficult time.
Help Fill a Dream believes that dreams come in all shapes and sizes. For a child, it may be to become a princess or pirate. For the parents, it can be as simple as being by their child’s side while they are sick in the hospital or making a comfortable place for them when they are home. Help Fill A Dream can replace frustration and despair with hope that is so essential for a child’s recovery.
The 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship will positively contribute to Help Fill a Dream’s goal of making children’s dreams come true. The Event will not only raise awareness, but will also provide financial support and fundraising opportunities for this very worthwhile cause. The Event’s charitable initiatives will contribute to the substantial impact of the PGA TOUR’s charitable platform, which has over $2 billion in all-time charitable-giving.
“Pacific Links is pleased to support Help Fill a Dream with their mission of making life better for children with serious illnesses. For most of us, a Band-Aid is all we need to mend the hurt of our children. With gratitude and generosity, we proudly support these families through this charity and hope you will join us in making a difference,” said Charles Lorimer, Chief Operating Officer at Pacific Links International.
