Victoria, British Columbia – October 30, 2014 – Top Canadian golf and lifestyle resort Bear Mountain, and its parent company, leading residential and resort firm Ecoasis, announced today that British Columbia golfers Roger Sloan and Riley Wheeldon will become official Bear Mountain Resort brand ambassadors.
Raised in Merritt, British Columbia, Sloan made his rookie debut on the PGA TOUR over the weekend at the McGladrey Classic in Sea Island, Georgia. After a solid 2014 campaign on the Web.com Tour, which included a win on Canadian soil at the Nova Scotia Open and three other Top-20 finishes, Sloan earned his 2014-2015 PGA TOUR card after finishing 24th on the Web.com Tour regular season money list. “Both my wife, Casey, and I are extremely excited to start a relationship with Bear Mountain Resort. We have always enjoyed spending time in Victoria. Bear Mountain Resort now gives us the opportunity to take advantage of world class golf coupled with fantastic outdoor recreation such as, hiking, mountain biking, and tennis to create a lifestyle we thoroughly enjoy escaping to.”
An up and coming Canadian golf talent from Richmond, British Columbia, Wheeldon has seen success on PGA TOUR Canada where he finished second on the 2013 Order of Merit after five Top-10 finishes and a victory. His strong play earned one of five Web.com Tour cards for the 2014 season. This past season, Wheeldon split time between the Web.com Tour and PGA TOUR Canada, where he earned twelve Top-25 finishes. Wheeldon also tied for second place at this year’s Vancouver Open, matching the course record by shooting a 65. “British Columbia has always been home, and the opportunity to partner with local companies like Ecoasis and Bear Mountain is a dream. As a professional golfer it’s nice to align with a facility that offers more than golf. Bear Mountain also allows me to enjoy all the great things Victoria has to offer.”
As part of the partnership, The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa will become the lifestyle destination resort of choice for Sloan and Wheeldon, Sloan and Wheeldon have received Honourary Memberships to Canada’s only 36-hole Nicklaus Design golf courses.
“Ecoasis is proud to champion Roger and Riley, two of BC’s most promising young talents as they pursue their PGA ambitions,” said Director of Golf Operations at Bear Mountain Resort, Jordan Ray. “Sponsorship not only allows these young athletes to focus on their careers, but also allows us to share their exciting journey with our own families, our residents and our golf members. Whether it’s golf, tennis or biking, Ecoasis welcomes the opportunity to promote sport development and to celebrate the achievement of dreams.” The pair will also represent the relationship by sporting a hybrid logo of Bear Mountain Resort and Ecoasis on their apparel.
