Three PGA TOUR Champions Winners Commit to Star-studded Lineup

VICTORIA, B.C. (August 31 , 2017) – Tournament Organizers have announced that PGA TOUR Champions winners Kenny Perry, Jesper Parnevik and Tom Kite have all committed to playing in the 2017 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship. The three golfers have a combined 38 PGA TOUR victories and 20 PGA TOUR Champions wins. The golfers will join an impressive field that features John Daly, Nick Faldo and Charles Schwab Cup leader, Bernhard Langer. The event will take place at Bear Mountain Golf Resort in Victoria, British Columbia the week of September 11-17, 2017.

Kenny Perry has won 14 PGA TOUR events and nine PGA TOUR Champions events including four senior major championships. For his success in leading the USA to victory in the Ryder Cup, he and fellow statesman J. B. Holmes were named Kentuckians of the Year for 2008 by Kentucky Monthly magazine. He was also named the winner of the 2002 Charles Bartlett Award, given to a professional golfer for his unselfish contributions to the betterment of society, by the Golf Writers Association of America. In 2013, Perry clinched the 2013 Charles Schwab Cup and was also named 2013 PGA TOUR Champions Player of the Year.

Jesper Parnevik turned professional in 1986 and scored four wins in his early years on the European Tour. Based in Florida, he joined the PGA TOUR in the mid-90s, subsequently winning five events. His playing career also includes three Ryder Cup appearances and two runner-up finishes in The Open Championship. He spent 38 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking in 2000 and 2001. Parnevik became eligible for the PGA TOUR Champions in 2015 and captured his first win at the Insperity Invitational that year. The Swedish-born golfer is known for his distinctive and eccentric taste in clothes and fashion. His nickname on tour is “Spaceman”.

Tom Kite has spent 175 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking between 1989 and 1994. Known for his innovation, he was the first to add a third wedge to his bag, and one of the first players to use a sports psychologist and to emphasize physical fitness for game improvement. He has 19 PGA TOUR victories, including the 1992 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He competed on seven Ryder Cup squads and served as the 1997 captain. In 1989 he was named PGA of America Player of the Year. Kite has secured ten victories including one senior major on the PGA TOUR Champions.

The Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship is an official event on PGA TOUR Champions featuring the world’s premier golfers aged 50 and older competing for a US $1.8 million purse. Tournament play at the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship will be held on the Jack and Steve Nicklaus Co-Design Mountain Course at Bear Mountain Golf Resort in Victoria, British Columbia, from September 11-17, 2017.

Tournament week in Victoria will begin with the Official Pro-Ams on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by 54 holes of championship play from Friday through Sunday, with no cut.
