(April 16, 2019 – Victoria, BC) Leading the way of 184 franchised Marriott hotels across Canada, the Westin Bear Mountain was recently recognized for its volunteer hours achieved through Marriott International’s social impact and sustainability platform, Serve 360.

Through community engagement and its Serve 360 program, one of Marriott’s core values Serve Our World guides how it does business. Through volunteerism, fundraising, cash and in-kind donations, hotels and associates worldwide are impassioned to “do good” in their communities and make a meaningful impact.

“We are thrilled to accept this award on behalf of all our associates who not only work hard at making the Westin Bear Mountain one of the region’s best hotels,” says Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa General Manager, Brian Harrington, “but also give generously of their time outside work hours in order to make a positive impact in this community.”

The majority of the Westin Bear Mountain’s charitable activities fall under the Nurture and Empower coordinate of Serve 360 described as supporting the resiliency and sustainable development of our communities by investing in the vitality of their children and natural resources, as well as delivering aid and support, especially in times of need.

As part of its ambitious Serve 360 goals, Marriott has pledged to volunteer 15 million hours worldwide by the year 2025. Canada has committed to meeting over 500,000 of those hours and its franchised partners were invited to join in on this journey.

“At Marriott International, we feel we have an opportunity and an obligation to better our communities and be a force for good,” says Roz Winegrad, AVP, Owner and Franchise Services for Marriott International. “Serve 360 channels our charitable efforts as a company and clearly articulates targets to help us meet our goals. It will take the effort of all our hotels and associates to help us each our goals and the Westin Bear Mountain’s efforts set a tremendous example.”
